WHY PEOPLE LIKE SMARTPHONE OR CELLPHONES
Humans are social creatures, who are insatiably curious and thirsty for knowledge, about themselves and their surroundings. First we gathered around a fire, to stay warm and to communicate. We then gathered in churches, of many kinds and sorts, for a variety of reasons. We eventually gathered around as someone read a book, and got our own after the fantastic invention of the print. We sat around radios, listening to the news, comedy shows, and even action broadcasts (like the Lone Ranger) and soap operas. First with film and then with the TV we were able to see those who were acting out those stories, news, and unfolding events. Print Newspapers were -and arguably still are- key for many a people around the world in order to keep up to date with events.
Then the telephone allowed us to talk to people
that were not within speaking distance! Other houses, cities, countries… And with the Internet, we were able to share music, buy our supplies, indulge in a completely overwhelming experience of stimuli that includes sounds, images, motion, to the point that when we become disconnected the “regular” passing of time and our usual reality seems almost boring, or far too mundane.
Yes, that’s quite a bit to read about what.. About what brought us the smart phone. Devices that do all the things indicated above and more, with tiny feats like pinpointing your location on this planet within a few feet of accuracy. Giving you directions and suggestions to anywhere you want to go.
And to add another layer -another angle- an entire industry worth hundreds of billions of dollars and much more, who works tirelessly with a single goal in mind “How can we keep them hooked to their phones?” The more we use them, the more we see, the more we buy, the more they get a say on the things that trend in our lives. Things that go “Viral”. To us they’re zany. To them, they’re $$$.
